Welcome & thank you for taking time to browse.
After writing almost 200 blogs over 7 years I realised how much support there was here & how hard it was for readers to find what they most needed.
I’ve therefore created a number of pages where you can find blogs about different topics. Those are quite broad & on this page you can dig deeper into areas which interest you.
I think the headings are self-explanatory, maybe with the exception of:
‘Lesley’s top picks, my favourite posts’ – this is a good place to start. These are a combination of those I really enjoyed writing & others which I think will be the most help to you.
‘Don't let your dreams ruin your life helpful process’- this was a series of blogs I wrote in early 2020, you’ll get the best out of them if you start with the earliest one!
‘Story’ – I am a great believer in the importance of owning your story as a positive step forward.
Please read a selection of different subjects & always with an open mind
I recommend that you take your times, always knowing that some will resonate with you & some won’t. And that’s perfect, because what supported me moving forward, might help you & it also might not.
In my blogs I usually ask questions, so I also encourage you to take time to answer them.
You can read much, much more in my book, Finding Joy Beyond Childlessness.
Working hard at being happy
Last week, together with others I was featured in the UK national press in an article about being both childless and parentless (which, let’s face it is where all of those who are childless will eventually land). It’s a beautiful article & the words which jumped out at me were the final ones from my … Read more
What are you settling for?
Do you ever suddenly realise you feel great and it surprises you because you didn’t realise how lousy you’d been feeling? This has happened to me a couple of times; most notably a couple of weeks ago, after a yoga class I suddenly realised; now I feel great, I’m back. Riding the rollercoaster I used … Read more
What good could come?
I heard these words last weekend at the ‘There’s More To Life Than Children’ day at Fertility Fest. They were spoken by Sheridan Voysey during his talk as part of the Fertility Fight Club. What he said was: ‘What good could come out of your pain…? Could it be that you could find a great … Read more
The 5 things I’ve learned coming to terms with childlessness
You know sometimes you get an email that brings everything to a stop for a few moments? That happened to me last week, I had an email from the Emma Barnett Show on BBC Radio 5 Live; they were doing a show completely about IVF & would like me to be involved. My answer was … Read more
What’s the link between a water bottle, a dragon, a swing chair and a stone?
‘I feel incredibly sad, a sadness deep inside. It’s almost overwhelming, a heaviness inside my chest that I carry all the time, if only I could cry.’ ‘I’m sad and that’s my normal sad.’ Do you recognise these words? Maybe you’ve written or voiced something similar? They’re from my journal, written in late Feb/early March … Read more
What’s love got to do with it?
I’m going to dive right in and start with a question. Do you feel and express love for others? Ok, I’ll hazard a guess that your answer was an unequivocal yes. Why wouldn’t it be? So now we‘ve established this, I’d like to dig a bit deeper and ask another question. Do you feel and … Read more
The challenges of following my own advice
It’s been almost a month since my last blog when I encouraged you not to start new things and set resolutions but, instead to follow nature, be still and direct energy deep within to recharge. And to ask yourself the question – what does my heart want? So how are you getting on? I normally … Read more
One question to ask yourself in January
If you’re excited by all those enthusiastic emails flooding into your inbox telling you it’s time to make this change, set new resolutions, stop reading now. This is definitely not one of them. If, however you’re irritated by the enthusiasm and energy of those people telling you that THIS time it will be different, you’re … Read more
