Search Blogs

Welcome & thank you for taking time to browse.

After writing almost 200 blogs over 7 years I realised how much support there was here & how hard it was for readers to find what they most needed.

I’ve therefore created a number of pages where you can find blogs about different topics. Those are quite broad & on this page you can dig deeper into areas which interest you.

I think the headings are self-explanatory, maybe with the exception of:

‘Lesley’s top picks, my favourite posts’ – this is a good place to start. These are a combination of those I really enjoyed writing & others which I think will be the most help to you.

Don't let your dreams ruin your life helpful process’- this was a series of blogs I wrote in early 2020, you’ll get the best out of them if you start with the earliest one!

‘Story’ – I am a great believer in the importance of owning your story as a positive step forward.

Please read a selection of different subjects & always with an open mind

I recommend that you take your times, always knowing that some will resonate with you & some won’t. And that’s perfect, because what supported me moving forward, might help you & it also might not.

In my blogs I usually ask questions, so I also encourage you to take time to answer them.

You can read much, much more in my book, Finding Joy Beyond Childlessness.

Hot Women Rock

By Lesley | October 4, 2016

‘It’s never too late to fulfil your life purpose’. That’s the first sentence from my friend Pat Duckworth’s new book; Hot women Rock: How To discover Your Midlife Entrepreneurial Mojo.’ And I completely agree. I was 47 when I started to work out what I really wanted from my life and I haven’t looked back. … Read more

Avalanche: A Love story by Julia Leigh.

By Lesley | September 21, 2016

Today I’m celebrating the publication of a newbook about what it means to be childless. The book is Avalanche: A Love story by Julia Leigh. One of my guiding principles is that we honour each other’s stories. All our stories are personal, and they are also universal. Our paths are different, and when we do … Read more

Summer Pause and Reset.

By Lesley | September 6, 2016

This year I’ve spent some time walking in the Yorkshire Dales and it strikes me that so much of life is like going on a hike. You have a destination in mind; you plan the route and tuck the map and instructions safely in a pocket. Then you set off. You want to stick to … Read more

Inspirational Story – Liz Ascham

By Lesley | August 23, 2016

Love life and strive for happiness is Liz’ six word memoir and, having read her inspirational story it describes her perfectly. Discovering, at 24 that she’d already gone through the menopause must have been, as she says ‘devastating’ and with the support of a loving husband, family and friends she is now generally happy with … Read more

Other than Mother

Other than Mother – Guest post by Kamalamani

By Lesley | August 1, 2016

I had always warmly anticipated motherhood, yet it wasn’t to be. I had always warmly anticipated motherhood, yet it wasn’t to be. At 31 I realised I wasn’t to become a mother after all, deciding not to have children. That was a fascinating process – painful and confusing, too – in fact, it was so … Read more

What does grace mean to you?

By Lesley | July 14, 2016

What is grace and what does it mean to you? To be honest until a few months ago grace was one of those abstract concepts that I’d heard of but didn’t think about. Then I was asked to contribute to a book called 365 Moments of Grace. I jumped at the chance; I mean why … Read more

childless

Three years, 105 blogs and two things.

By Lesley | July 7, 2016

Three years ago last weekend this website went live and I started to stand up and be counted as a childless woman. Three years feels like a big milestone and I thought I should write something special to celebrate it. In the past few days I’ve spent a long time sitting in front of my … Read more

Worried about the future at the expense of today?

By Lesley | May 26, 2016

I was recently asked whether, as a childless woman I’m afraid of dying alone. The rationale for asking was – well you don’t have children (or siblings for that matter), women tend to live longer than men, so surely that means you’ll die alone, doesn’t it? Maybe it does, maybe it doesn’t. Can you predict … Read more

Inspirational Story – Gladys Perez-Mojica

By Lesley | May 5, 2016

I met Gladys at the NotMom Summit in 2015 I’m pleased to share her inspirational story here. Her 6 word memoir is ‘Rising from fire, ready to thrive!’ and this sums up both her and her story perfectly. She did indeed go through fire (and various medical procedures) ending with that thing we fear the … Read more
